Grooming

This video shows how to properly brush a doodle

Desensitizing for grooming

Doodles require regular grooming so it is important to get your puppy use to grooming at a young age so it is a pleasant experience. Somethings that can be done at home to help out are:

  • brush daily to get them use to the brush and also to prevent matting.
  • run an electric clipper without blade or an electric toothbrush on the puppies body especially their face and feet so they get use to the feeling, vibration and noise.
  • touch and hold their head as often as possible, especially their ears and muzzle.
  • teach them paw and hold their paws as often as possible.

Brushing

Depends on type of coat:
For those with wavy coats, a simple brushing a few times a week should do.
For those with curly coats be prepared for more frequent brushing.
Best brushes for doodle coats are a slicker brush and a metal comb.
