What our puppies go home with

Our puppies are raised in a loving and social environment to ensure they are ready to become a part of your family. We believe that proper socialization starts from the day they are born. Our puppies are handled daily right from the minute they are born. Their feet, ears and tail are touched often to prepare them for the grooming that doodles require. We start brushing them daily at a young age so they get use to it for their new owners. We start grooming our puppies faces and paw pads before they leave that way they get use to it early on. When our puppies are given a bath we blow dry them afterwards instead of letting them air dry that way they get use to the blow dryer. Our puppies are exposed to everyday sights, smells and sounds. Some of these include the vaccume, tv, kids playing, other dogs and animals, etc. We also expose them to sounds they are less frequently to come into contact with such as fireworks, sirens, gunshots, thunder, etc.

Our puppies go to their new homes at 11-12 weeks old. We have a couple reason why we keep them until this age. First we want to have all three puppy vaccines given to them before they leave. There are to many deadly virus that they could catch and with all the stress of going to a new home it makes their immune system lower so not having all vaccines puts them at greater risk. Plus it takes the load off the new owner with not having to get them done as they will already be so busy with the new puppy. Second puppies go through fear periods where something new or familiar can become scary to them that previously didn’t bother them. The first fear period is between 8-11 weeks old. Sending them home between that age can make transitioning a lot harder on them and if not managed properly can lead to behaviour issues so we feel it’s better they stay in a familiar environment during that time period.
